This creates a gene source that can be utilized for breeding rice varieties dedicated to rice and shrimp in Nanxian, and broadens the genetic basis for the selection and breeding of new varieties of its plants.

Space rice seed back to Nanxian County. Its agricultural development has a new vitality, the shrimp-rice industry of Nanxian county will also realize a new leap in the future.

At present, the shrimprice special seeds equipped with space breeding have been delivered to Hunan Rice Research Institute, which will carry out the next step of experimental planting and subsequent evaluation and appraisal.

2023年5月30日，南县稻虾米专用水稻品种南县稻虾香1号8696粒种子随神舟十六号载人飞船奔赴太空，历经高真空、微重力、高辐射太空环境的洗礼，10月31日返回地面。

这为南县稻虾米专用水稻品种创造了可供育种利用的基因源，拓宽其植物新品种选育的遗传基础。

太空稻种回到南县，南县农业发展有了新活力，南县稻虾米产业也将实现新飞跃。

目前，装有太空育种归来的稻虾米专用种子已交付给湖南省水稻研究所，将开展下一步的试验种植和后续的评价鉴定。
